Originally founded in 1985, SIMF is the single longest running music festival in the US devoted entirely to free improvisation. Renowned for its dynamic performances and diverse programming, I set out to design a cohesive brand identity for the festival that could exist in both print and web.
Most physical packaging in music today still relies on an "inside out" approach where listeners are cued to the tone of the sounds within through the external design. For LA post punk group, Behavior, however, this was not easy. In this record design I attempt to capture the agitated and constantly shifting nature of this set of songs.
